Diana, The Organizing Doula, helped us with two moves for our parents. The first one was planned and was to transition our parents into a newly built retirement home. The second one came about suddenly and involved moving them from one joint unit to two separate ones due to a change in care requirements. This was a very stressful time for the family, and Diana was able to find a moving company familiar with retirement homes and their processes very quickly and helped with the necessary prep work required for the two moves within a very tight time frame.
We appreciated the sensitivity and consideration given to the various medical challenges our family was facing at the time (one of our parents has advanced dementia, so we had to have the move preparations happen very stealthily to prevent unnecessary agitation), and those efforts made a very difficult situation much easier to manage. Diana's unmatchable attention to detail gave us confidence to face what felt like an impossible task, and her honesty and integrity allowed us to have peace of mind as she handled our parents' possessions. We highly recommend The Organizing Doula to anyone looking for help with moving/ downsizing and organization.
When I was pregnant with my second child, I had terrible morning sickness for almost my whole pregnancy, so my nesting plan got thrown out the window. With the baby’s birth imminent, we called the Organizing Doula to help get our home on track so that we would be ready on time. The Organizing Doula helped us get our kitchen organized and bring order to our shared bedroom/new baby’s room. We also worked together after our second was born to help us manage our family timetable. The relief we felt with a plan for the week was amazing! We didn’t have to worry about which appointment was coming up next, or who was coming over, because we had a plan we could work with and enough flexibility built in to change it if we needed to.
When we needed to clear out and list our Toronto rental property, the Organizing Doula was able to help us source reputable movers quickly so we could move our furniture to our main residence 1.5 hours outside of Toronto. What a relief knowing that we had a recommendation we could trust! We were also given suggestions on where to find supplies for small items that we decided to move ourselves and even a realtor contact to help us list our property.
I had just moved into my condo and was living on my own for the very first time. What should have been a happy time, was actually quite overwhelming! I didn’t know where to start in the unpack process, and was still living out of boxes several weeks after my closing. Diana, The Organizing Doula came over and helped me implement a plan, so that I could have a peaceful place to sleep for the night and then could work on unpacking the other areas. Her knowledge of condo buildings has proved invaluable and she’s given me great advice on how to navigate working with the management office to make the transition easy. As a busy professional I also found I was having difficulty juggling my work/life balance. At the beginning of our coaching session, I couldn’t possibly see how I would accomplish everything on my “to do” list for the week and was just ready to just give up. The patience and calmness in our time together helped put me at ease. The Organizing Doula talked me through how to prioritize the tasks for the week, and not just for work, but also for family and social time too. I had a sense of calm at the end of our session and looked to the week with optimism – that feeling was priceless!
With our second baby on the way, my husband and I decided that we finally needed to do something with our bedroom closet which had started to become a catch-all for a number of items. We thought our baby might come early (which she did!), so we didn’t have the time to go to multiple stores and research every type of closet organizer available. The Organizing Doula was able to work with us virtually and put together a professional closet organizing plan that fit my clothing (and my husband’s) complete with a component shopping list that we could pick up from our local store. It saved a ton of time and was one less thing we needed to worry about!
When my wife passed away, I was left with the stress of managing the home we shared together, something I never had to do before. I not only had to decide what to do with my wife’s clothing and personal items, but also needed to learn what many of the items around the house were used for and how long they lasted. The Organizing Doula calmly helped me to sort through these items and make decisions on what to keep and what to donate and taught me what each were used for. I now have more confidence around the house, especially in my kitchen and laundry room after we worked together.
